Iridium is seeking a motivated Director, Satellite Ground Terminal Engineering for a Space Development Agency (SDA) project. As the Director, Satellite Ground Terminal Engineering you’ll work to implement strategic plans and objectives under the direction of senior management, including managing delivery of high-quality results and solutions. In this role, you’ll lead a team of engineers and be responsible for numerous technical aspects of the architecture and design of the ground segment. What You’ll Do:
- Foster and develop a highly effective team of ground terminal engineers to analyze, design, develop, deploy, and operate a system of satellite ground terminals around the world for a U.S. Government (USG) satellite constellation
- Mentor and train your team by evaluating employees’ performance, recognizing areas for improvement, and providing reliable solutions to problems that may impact your team’s effectiveness
- Be the main point of contact and technical lead on specific USG programs for ground terminal solutions, including Radio Frequency (RF), Optical, and ground terminal service solutions
- Solve technical problems with a high degree of creativity and problem-solving capability across a wide range of subject areas to develop and deliver customized solutions to challenging requirements
- Provide technical leadership across multiple disciplines including software, mechanical, RF, optical, digital, and software/hardware testing
- Define high-level architecture and design of high-reliability, high-performance, secure applications as well as hands on development and implementation
- Use specialized knowledge to drive and define line of business/functional knowledge, ensuring system engineering best practices and processes are applied to ground and payload controller systems developed for various external projects
- Work closely with other project System Engineers on current government-based projects
- Be responsible for exercising technical authority over ground terminal projects
- Work closely with the USG program managers and other key stakeholders to determine resource needs, technical development schedules and major milestones
- Conduct required system analysis (functional & performance), interface definition, and detailed trade studies, analyzing multiple data sources to respond to frequent, complex, and high impact situations
- Lead a technical team in support of major reviews such as: Systems Requirements Review (SRR), Preliminary Design Review (PDR), Critical Design Review (CDR), Test Readiness Review (TRR), and Operations Readiness Review (ORR) as well as Program Increment Demonstrations
- Be accountable for the coordination and delivery of technical assignments designed with end goals in mind
- Be accountable for ensuring that projects meet technical performance targets, deliver quality results, and activities are well designed and meet overall project objectives
- Play a key role in making strategic project decisions and provide system engineering best practices in program design and delivery, utilizing critical thinking skills to better design new or developing systems

As a NOC Technician, you’ll contribute to monitoring Iridium Gateways and remote site equipment to ensure timely resolution of issues and outage notifications in a 24x7x365 environment. What You’ll Do:
- Contribute to the team that is responsible for monitoring and testing the Gateway network elements per written operational procedures
- Assist with remote maintenance per written operational procedures, and execute operational and/or system/service performance checklists as outlined in written operational procedures
- Support troubleshooting of customer trouble tickets per written operational procedures
- Respond to Iridium alerts in a timely manner and initiate corrective actions to restore network services, and coordinate fault resolution with senior personnel and with vendor support
- Help your team to perform equipment installation, cable runs and server room maintenance in compliance with Iridium’s Data Center Standards and Procedures policy
- Escalate non-standard events to on-call Engineer and/or Management
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned from time to time by management

In this role, you’ll be responsible for providing leadership, coordination, and management of test case development, execution, analysis, lab maintenance, and management of Integration, Verification, and Validation (IV&V) processes within a major program to deliver high-quality results and complex solutions. - Lead the technical team in support of developing automated processes for test data creation, validation, and verification
- Lead the technical team in support of major reviews such as: Systems Requirements Review (SRR), Preliminary Design Review (PDR), Critical Design Review (CDR), Test Readiness Review (TRR), and Operations Readiness Review (ORR) as well as Program Increment Demonstrations
