At the end of the program, taking into consideration the needs of the teams, you will be matched appropriately with the team that best suit your educational background, skillset, and interest!   Satellite Operations This Satellite Operations team performs the real time operation, monitoring, and command and control of the Iridium satellite constellation and ground system, including execution of planned activities and recovering from anomalies, as well as performing orbit determination, mission planning and collision avoidance functions.   Space Engineering The Iridium satellites are complex systems composed of subsystems such as Power, Attitude Control, Thermal, and Communications, to name a few. The Space Engineering team consists of subsystem experts who respond to satellite issues, as well as develop software features that improve performance, safety, and maintainability of the satellites.   Product Engineering Iridium designs and develops the transceivers that enable users to connect to the Iridium satellite constellation. The Product Engineering team is responsible for the overall lifecycle of the Iridium transceivers from requirements, design, test, production, and sustainment. The team builds and maintains development, test and production systems, software tools, developer kits, and documentation.    Customer Care The Customer Care team provides real time technical support and customer service engineering for all Iridium service partners, value-added manufactures, and value-added retailers. The team participates in alpha and beta trials as well as testing of enhancements to Iridium products and services.   Gateway Operations The Gateway hosts the critical infrastructure which maintains all the Iridium services. The team monitors the health of Gateway systems and services in a 24x7x365 environment to respond to any anomalies. Additionally, they execute system and network preventative maintenance procedures, and implement system upgrades, updates, and configuration changes to minimize service disruption.   Integration and Test The Iridium space and ground systems are constantly evolving. The Integration and Test team ensures all system changes are vetted before operational deployment, by testing software and/or hardware changes in a lab environment. The team interacts with high fidelity simulators as well hardware in the loop testing using satellite engineering models.

What We’re Looking For:   The Senior Manager, IT Security is responsible for managing all activities associated with Iridium’s Mission and Commercial Network security. In this hands-on management position, you will need to use advanced technical skills, as well as managerial abilities. You will collaborate with the Enterprise Security, IT Operations, Gateway Technical Operations, and Mission IT teams to coordinate the team’s efforts in designing, implementing, and maintaining security infrastructure across the Iridium’s Mission and Commercial networks and sites.   What You’ll Do: - Foster and develop a highly effective team of cybersecurity professionals to successfully identify and resolve potential system and network threats, while also ensuring all vulnerabilities are mitigated across all NW and Security elements - Mentor and train your team by performing regular check-ins, discussing career growth opportunities, giving constructive feedback, and managing conflict when necessary - Provide technical leadership and guidance to the Mission and Commercial networks security team - Maintain existing IT security elements and infrastructure; implement upgrades and replace and provide new equipment as needed - Establish and implement standards and industry best practices. In this role, your primary responsibility will be to look for off-the-shelf uses of our products and services for our customers in the US government and the DoD.   What You’ll Do: - Build relationships with operational proponents in the US government and the DoD in order to understand customer needs - Engage with customers to educate them regarding additional ways to leverage their current Iridium products and services (i.e., un-used features and enhancements) offered under their contract - Recommend new products and services to existing customer base - Support the customer by facilitating the sales cycle of the EMSS program from purchase through approval and activation - Engage Iridium partners to support and promote sales of Iridium products and services - Use knowledge of Iridium’s internal processes and department to efficiently close the sales cycle - Use familiarity of Iridium's distribution channels in the US Government to explain how products and services can be acquired and applied to the specific mission - Identify gaps and opportunities in products and services and communicate cross-functionally so that enhancements can be made; Seek out gaps in the market - Work collaboratively internally to shepherd longer sales cycle opportunities to the correct department

The Iridium Satellite tracking ground station team is looking for a bright student to support routine maintenance and analysis on RF, Electronic and Mechanical systems and subsystems. Data Analysis will require the successful candidate to retrieve various logs from both computer platform systems and network based UNIX servers for processing and generate statistical reports used to gauge the performance of the ground station.   What You'll Do: Specific Duties include, but are not limited to: - Remove and replace failed or suspect equipment – Antenna and Rack - Facilities maintenance – routine visual inspections of facilities equipment (UPS, Generator) and logging of findings. - Antenna RF uplink data collection for calibrations - Daily system checks for satellite tracking antenna systems - System Log collection and production of the raw data for statistical analysis. - Monthly Preventative Maintenance on the Antenna Tracking Pedestals - Snow removal from the antenna radomes (as needed) - Daily log entries for the ground station à activities performed, weather conditions, visitors - Provide support in a “on-call” capacity providing there is no impact to the academic schedule Skills You’ll Obtain: - Real-world experience in chosen field of interest and related topics through multiple hands-on projects - Critical thinking and analytical skills - Working in and contributing to a team environment - Organization and time management What You’ll Need to Succeed: - Able to read and interpret schematic diagrams. - Basic knowledge of Radio Frequencies (RF) communications and principals. - Basic working knowledge of electronic lab test equipment - Spectrum Analyzer - Power Meter - Oscilloscope - Strong work ethic, positive attitude, and professional demeanor - Ability to work independently and as part of a team - Excellent verbal and written communication skills - Attention to detail and accuracy
