The Iridium Satellite tracking ground station team is looking for a bright student to support routine maintenance and analysis on RF, Electronic and Mechanical systems and subsystems. Data Analysis will require the successful candidate to retrieve various logs from both computer platform systems and network based UNIX servers for processing and generate statistical reports used to gauge the performance of the ground station.   What You'll Do: Specific Duties include, but are not limited to: - Remove and replace failed or suspect equipment – Antenna and Rack - Facilities maintenance – routine visual inspections of facilities equipment (UPS, Generator) and logging of findings. - Antenna RF uplink data collection for calibrations - Daily system checks for satellite tracking antenna systems - System Log collection and production of the raw data for statistical analysis. - Monthly Preventative Maintenance on the Antenna Tracking Pedestals - Snow removal from the antenna radomes (as needed) - Daily log entries for the ground station à activities performed, weather conditions, visitors - Provide support in a “on-call” capacity providing there is no impact to the academic schedule Skills You’ll Obtain: - Real-world experience in chosen field of interest and related topics through multiple hands-on projects - Critical thinking and analytical skills - Working in and contributing to a team environment - Organization and time management What You’ll Need to Succeed: - Able to read and interpret schematic diagrams. - Basic knowledge of Radio Frequencies (RF) communications and principals. - Basic working knowledge of electronic lab test equipment - Spectrum Analyzer - Power Meter - Oscilloscope - Strong work ethic, positive attitude, and professional demeanor - Ability to work independently and as part of a team - Excellent verbal and written communication skills - Attention to detail and accuracy

The Iridium Internship Program is an opportunity for students to be a part of the Iridium teams shaping the future of satellite communications. As an Intern, you’ll begin making an impact on real projects from day one! Come prepared to grow, develop, and learn alongside a team and the leaders of our company. The Iridium Internship program is a 12-week program that runs from May 22, 2023 to August 11, 2023. During the program, interns will have the opportunity to provide valuable support to an Iridium department on a project or important work assignment. Interns will also be provided an opportunity to engage with senior leadership and fellow interns via regular engagement activities. Interns will participate in an end of internship presentation, where we ask them to reflect on their summer internships and present a summary of what they have learned and accomplished.   What We’re Looking For: Iridium seeks a stand-out Technical Support Intern. This role will shadow the Customer Support Engineer role and will learn to interact with several key engineering and support groups at Iridium while supporting customer issues and projects.  Projects will include Certus platform testing with a variety of Value Added Manufacturer (VAM) products, troubleshooting customer issues by reviewing firewall logs and various Iridium traffic logs, and assisting with documentation efforts of various technical processes and troubleshooting procedures.   What You’ll Do: - Work with the support engineer to analyze and review escalated customer issues - Support ongoing efforts to test out updates and new service features on various Iridium data services - Review internal support documentation and suggest additions/updates based on daily experiences - Assist in the day-to-day activities of the various Customer Care groups Skills You’ll Obtain: - Real-world experience supporting customers at each level of support through multiple hands-on projects - Real-world experience working with satellite communication devices, making calls, and transferring data - Critical thinking and analysis of customer traffic - Working in and contributing to a team environment - Organization and time management - Strengthened communication skills through team collaboration What You’ll Need to Succeed: - Strong work ethic, positive attitude, and professional demeanor - Ability to work independently and as part of a team - Excellent verbal and written communication skills - Attention to detail and accuracy
