What We’re Looking For:

Iridium is seeking a Applications Programmer III to join our B/OSS Billing Development team. As an Applications Programmer III (B/OSS), you’ll be responsible for the design and development of Billing and Provisioning applications. In this role, you will also provide technical support, as required, to supplement the operations and other support teams. As an Applications Programmer III, you will be expected to display a depth of knowledge in development, maintenance, and support of multiple core software systems within the development team product catalogue.

 

What You’ll Do:

  • Design, develop, and maintain billing and provisioning software applications, including new programs, enhancements, and modifications
  • Participate fully in Agile Scrum team development cycle, including design discussions
  • Develop and maintain Java based applications
  • Participate in backlog issue management by ensuring stories are written correctly, acceptance criteria are fully captured, and issues follow the defined workflow to lead to successful commitments.
  • Participate fully in end-to-end development from frontend systems to backend systems
  • Review peer code against team agreed code standards and industry best practices
  • Produce new builds/patches and deployments upon completion of development tasks
  • Assist with the integration, documentation, and launch of new product offerings
  • Participate in requirements gathering sessions to ensure proper product direction for business and customer needs
  • Independently recognize and propose solutions to issues and defects in a timely manner
  • Support customer efforts through beta, integration testing, and production release cycles
  • Maintain appropriate documentation for external integrators and internal customers

What You’ll Need to Succeed:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related technical field
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in software development
  • 3+ years of working in telecom domain
    • Programming languages C, C++, Python, Perl, Java
    • Database (Oracle, MySQL)
    • Knowledge of Telecom Network Elements (HLR, HSS)
    • Provisioning and Billing
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to confidently present products, deliverables, analyses, and/or issues
  • Possess an analytical mindset, with the ability to understand a situation or problem and think critically to make decisions or come up with solutions
  • Be comfortable managing upward, including being a proactive communicator and asking for help when needed
  • Have confidence and be able to establish valuable relationships with others
  • Must be able to prioritize key tasks and have a strong sense of ownership over your work
  • Be active in seeking out ways to continuously improve yourself and gain new knowledge

Things That Would be Great if You Brought to the Table:

  • Knowledge or familiarity working in telecom billing systems (Oracle BRM or any equivalent)
  • Experience developing automation tools and products.
  • Knowledge of AWS or relevant cloud technologies

We’ll also need you to:

  • Occasionally work extended hours during releases or troubleshooting of any critical customer impacting issues
  • Provide production support after hours for any critical issues that cannot wait till next working day

Work Environment:

This position primarily works in the company office or in a home office. The position is largely sedentary with the majority of the position sitting in a chair and working with a computer. The role uses basic office equipment including a phone, video, computer, keyboard, mouse and printer. For meetings in-person, this position will need to be able stand, walk within the office and climb stairs on occasion.
