What We’re Looking For:

If you are a skilled Engineer with at least 5 years of experience as an AWS Cloud Engineer (or similar role), Iridium has a position for you on our IT Operations Team!  As a Cloud Engineer III you’ll independently deliver high-quality work and drive projects and deliverables to completion and manage cloud solutions that drive business outcomes.  In this role, you will focus primarily on optimizing cloud resources and driving innovation through efficient use of AWS technologies to manage our cloud infrastructure on the AWS platform. You will thrive in this role if you are proactive and enjoy designing and managing cloud solutions.

What You’ll Do:

  • Assist in the design, implementation, and managing of scalable and secure cloud architectures on AWS, ensuring high availability and performance.
  • Assist in the deployment, configuration, and management of AWS services such as EC2, S3, RDS, VPC, IAM, and more to support our business applications.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate cloud solutions into existing systems, ensuring seamless integration and minimal disruption.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot cloud infrastructure to identify and resolve issues, ensuring minimal downtime and optimal performance.
  • Stay up to date with the latest AWS services and best practices, contributing to the continuous improvement of our cloud environment.
  • Develop and maintain automation scripts and infrastructure as code (IaC) using tools like Terraform, CloudFormation, or AWS CDK to streamline cloud resource management.
  • Follow AWS security best practices, including network security, identity and access management (IAM), and data encryption.
  • Provide technical feedback mentorship to junior team members, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.

What You’ll Need to Succeed:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field OR equivalent relevant experience in lieu of degree
  • 5+ years of relevant experience as an AWS Cloud Engineer or similar role, with an understanding of AWS services and architecture
  • Experience assisting with cloud architecture design and implementation, including hands-on experience with AWS services
  • Proficiency in GitLab and GitRunners, and experience with CI/CD tools and practices
  • Strong knowledge of cloud security best practices, including network security, IAM, and data encryption
  • Experience with cloud-native applications and microservices architecture, including knowledge of AWS networking and storage solutions
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to confidently present products, deliverables, analyses, and/or issues
  • Possess an analytical mindset, with the ability to understand a situation or problem and think critically to make decisions or come up with solutions
  • Be comfortable managing upward, including being a proactive communicator and asking for help when needed
  • Have confidence and be able to establish valuable relationships with others
  • Must be able to prioritize key tasks and have a strong sense of ownership over your work
  • Be active in seeking out ways to continuously improve yourself and gain new knowledge

Things That Would be Great if You Brought to the Table:

  • Experience with AWS on hybrid and multi-cloud environments
  • Familiarity with container technologies like Docker and Kubernetes on AWS
  • Experience with cloud cost management and optimization tools
  • Cloud Custodian or Stacklet experience
  • Understanding of FinOps

We’ll also need you to:

  • Be able to work a hybrid schedule that includes at least 3 or more days a week in office to foster collaboration with the team and stakeholders
  • Be able to assist and support Cloud teams with issues
  • May occasionally travel for meetings, conferences, and on-site support

Work Environment:

This position primarily works in an office setting and is largely sedentary with the majority of the position working with a computer. The role typically requires the use of basic office equipment such as a phone, video, computer, keyboard, mouse, and printer.
