What We’re Looking For:

Are you someone who thrives in the world of cybersecurity and cutting-edge technology? If so, this opportunity may be for you. As a key member of the Iridium team, you'll be responsible for ensuring the safety and security of government installations and the Iridium Technical Support Center (TSC) systems and network infrastructure. If you are experienced in security administration in the technology sector and have over 10 years of experience, then you will be excited about the Systems Security Administrator III opening with Iridium on our Technology, Development, and Operations team. As a Systems Security Administrator III, you’ll independently deliver high-quality work and drive security-focused projects and system enhancements to completion. In this role, you will focus primarily on monitoring, maintaining, and improving the security posture of critical infrastructure. You will succeed in this role if you have strong knowledge of government security standards, enjoy solving complex technical problems, and thrive in a dynamic environment. This position requires an active/current Secret Security Clearance or the ability to obtain a Secret Security Clearance (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active).

What You’ll Do:

  • Work independently to monitor and maintain the security of critical systems and network infrastructure, identifying and responding to vulnerabilities and incidents
  • Be responsible for implementing security upgrades, patches, and hardening measures in accordance with federal and Department of Defense security requirements
  • Support projects related to compliance, vulnerability scanning, system upgrades, and risk mitigation across data centers supporting Iridium and government operations
  • Play a role in technical reviews and root cause analyses, and assist with developing improvements based on findings
  • Create and manage reports related to compliance benchmarks and vulnerability alerts, including Security Technical Implementation Guides and Information Assurance Vulnerability Alerts
  • Coordinate cross-functional initiatives that enhance overall system and device security across the organization
  • Support other departments in implementing secure designs and contribute to efforts related to the engineering, deployment, and support of secure applications and platforms

What You’ll Need to Succeed:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field OR equivalent relevant experience in lieu of a degree
  • 5+ years’ experience in security administration or similar field
  • Demonstrated depth of knowledge of security technologies including Security Technical Implementation Guide (STIG), Information Assurance Vulnerability Alerts (IAVA), Assured Compliance Assessment Solution (ACAS) scanning, Cyber Security and how they apply to application development and operational support across a secure global network
  • Demonstrated depth of knowledge of the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), Federal Information Processing Standards (FIPS), Committee on National Security Systems Policy (CNSSP), and other Department of Defense (DoD) security requirements, with a focus on how to implement and conform to them
  • Experience with the configuration, management, and enforcement of network security systems such as firewalls, McAfee ePO, Tenable.sc, and Nessus scanners
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to confidently present products, deliverables, analyses, and/or issues 
  • Possess an analytical mindset, with the ability to understand a situation or problem and think critically to make decisions or come up with solutions 
  • Be comfortable managing upward, including being a proactive communicator and asking for help when needed 
  • Have confidence and be able to establish valuable relationships with others 
  • Must be able to prioritize key tasks and have a strong sense of ownership over your work 
  • Be active in seeking out ways to continuously improve yourself and gain new knowledge 

Things That Would be Great if You Brought to the Table:

  • Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field OR equivalent relevant experience in lieu of a degree
  • Experience with Cisco routers, firewalls, and switches with special emphasis on NXOS, Cisco IOS, PAN-OS, and Cisco ASA software
  • Experience with Cisco, Checkpoint and Palo-Alto Firewalls or similar security appliances with a superior knowledge of network security applications, tools, and methodologies
  • Knowledgeable of Cisco UCS Architecture to support Virtual Infrastructure
  • Experience with system administration; responsible for implementing and maintaining network monitoring with systems such as Sciencelogic, Splunk Enterprise, and Nagios.
  • Experience with system backups, system monitoring and system partitioning to meet DoD requirements
  • Experienced in network system design requirements for hardware, OS, software procurement and processing

We’ll also need you to:

  • Participate in 24x7 on-call support when necessary
  • Be able to travel 10-20%
  • Be a US Citizen

Work Environment:

This position primarily works in an office setting and is largely sedentary with the majority of the position working with a computer. The role typically requires the use of basic office equipment such as a phone, video, computer, keyboard, mouse, and printer.
