What We’re Looking For:

We are looking for a dynamic Business Development professional to drive awareness and adoption of Iridium’s cutting-edge products and services in the maritime sector – building a significant sales pipeline – with a focus on merchant and industrial fisheries. In this role, you’ll collaborate with large and mid-size merchant fleets as well as deep-sea fishing fleets, introducing them to Iridium-based solutions that enhance connectivity and safety at sea. Your mission will include promoting our innovative Iridium Certus broadband services and leveraging our status as a recognized GMDSS provider to champion the adoption of Iridium’s new SOLAS Safety services across fleets in the EMEA region. Primary target markets include large and mid-size merchant shipping/fishing companies in key maritime decision centers, predominantly within Europe and to a lesser extent in the Middle East. What You’ll Do:

  • Identify, prospect, and strategically assess opportunities with fleets within the maritime market that will create long-term value for Iridium
  • Actively visit prospective fleets to promote the Iridium solutions according to the Iridium maritime strategy
  • Identify, develop, support, and/or maintain influential relationships with key-decision makers at target maritime enterprises who require satellite connectivity
  • Develop a deep understanding of maritime clients’ connectivity requirements
  • Support efforts to ensure that the company’s Value Proposition regarding Iridium Certus and Iridium GMDSS is socialized with, and understood by, key decision-makers within target shipping/fishing companies, to stimulate demand for the adoption of Iridium-based connectivity solutions making Iridium the provider of choice
  • Collaborate with Iridium’s Maritime Line of Business , EMEA Channel Management, and Sales Management to develop new business growth opportunities with prospective fleets
  • Identify, well in advance, and assist with tender opportunities in target markets
  • Support the development and maintenance of a sales funnel
  • Consult with Iridium to organize and assist in end-user demonstrations, seminars, road shows, and project development
  • Support Iridium management in the important aspects of the regional sales process including prospecting, qualifying, meeting, and working closely with EMEA Channel Management and Maritime Line of Business
  • Prepare and conduct assessment meetings with Iridium leadership to help ensure Iridium is able to meet or exceed its monthly/quarterly/annual targets
  • Provide feedback on competitor implementation, pricing, promotions, etc.

Experience & Education Requirements / EEO

What You’ll Need to Succeed:

  • University degree in a business or technical discipline, or equivalent qualifications gained through relevant professional experience
  • Minimum 8 years of direct sales experience within maritime vertical markets in EMEA, preferably in the area of satellite connectivity solutions
  • Demonstrable track record in selling technology-based products and services or solutions
  • Demonstrate successful examples of sales to end users, and the ability to identify, research, prospect and deliver new sales
  • Must be willing and able to travel throughout EMEA region regularly to visit prospects and support the sales of Iridium products (up to 50%)
  • Must be familiar with a fast moving, professional, results oriented atmosphere, and demonstrate a well-organized approach to the services
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey products, deliverables, analyses, and/or issues clearly and confidently, and confidently recognize and adapt to different communication techniques
  • Be a strategic thinker who demonstrates good judgment and decisiveness
  • Experience working with US and European management teams
  • Candidate to be located at a mutually agreeable location in Europe, but must be local to an airport with easy access to most major European maritime centers

Things That Would be Great if You Brought to the Table:

  • Knowledge of mobile satellite services is highly desirable but not mandatory

We’ll also need you to:

  • Have excellent written and spoken English, good knowledge of German, French or other European language is a plus
  • Ability to travel up to 50% of the time

Work Environment:

This position primarily works in the company office or in a home office. The position is largely sedentary with the majority of the position sitting in a chair and working with a computer. The role uses basic office equipment including a phone, video, computer, keyboard, mouse and printer. For meetings in-person, this position will need to be able stand, walk within the office and climb stairs on occasion.
