Position Summary, Job Requirements & Responsibilities

What We’re Looking For:

Iridium is seeking an ambitious and motivated Product Manager to join our dynamic Government Team! In this role, you’ll be responsible for driving the development of new products and services, working with our partners to create important and exciting new solutions in support of government customers. You’ll be successful in this role if you have the relevant technical knowledge, can think on both tactical and strategic levels, are able to communicate and persuade at all levels of the organization, and are adept in a matrix-management, virtual/in-person, ever-changing environment.

 

This position requires an active/current Top Secret Security Clearance (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active).

 

What You’ll Do:

  • Collaborate with the Government Team to perform product planning and execution throughout the product lifecycle to align with initiatives and requirements by gathering and prioritizing product and customer requirements, driving product vision internally within Iridium and externally with Iridium partners and Government customers, and working closely with various groups within Iridium to ensure revenue and customer satisifaciton goals are met
  • Drive implementation of products and services with partners and Government contracts to maximize Government user adoption by defining short- and long-term initiatives to meet customer requirements, improving product time to market, reducing development costs, ensuring solution quality, improving customer satisfaction, and making working with Iridium a competitive advantage
  • Manage efforts to define and document simple and efficient processes for customers to follow that require minimal questions/issues for the customer during development
  • Support creation and modification of licenses and other agreements for partners and Government customers
  • Play a key role in supporting business capture activities within the Iridium government portfolio, including but not limited to providing input for white papers, proposals, and technical exchange meetings
  • Train personnel and provide support for partners’ implementation of products, services, or operations projects during development, implementation, launch, and post-launch
  • Oversee the support of existing products and services as they are adopted by partners and customers
  • Work independently to facilitate the enhancement of capabilities and partner maintenance activities including end-of-life parts, regulatory changes, issues in operation, etc.
  • Facilitate resellers, manufacturers, developers, and service providers via creation of Iridium inside products and services to ensure the best possible outcomes and continuous improvements for their solutions
  • Be a liaison for the Iridium Government product portfolio, supporting the sales team and providing direction to engineering and product development

Experience & Education Requirements / EEO

What You’ll Need to Succeed:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, or a related field
  • 8+ years of relevant experience in Government funded programs related to the telecommunications industry
  • 4+ years of direct product management experience in a technical industry
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to clearly convey products, deliverables, analyses, and/or issues to groups outside of your team or those who are unfamiliar with the topic
  • Excellent teamworking skills in execution of small and large tasks
  • Ability to influence cross-function teams without formal authority
  • Have confidence and be able to easily build relationships with leadership and colleagues outside of your team
  • Possess an analytical mindset, with the ability to understand a situation or problem and think critically to make decisions and come up with out-of-the-box solutions
  • Be proactive in providing feedback and be enthusiastic in sharing your knowledge with others
  • Capable of prioritizing your own tasks and potentially the tasks of others while making sure deadlines are met
  • Enthusiastic, attention to detail, results oriented, organized, motivated and self-driven

 

Things That Would be Great if You Brought to the Table:

  • Advanced degree in a technical discipline or business degree
  • Experience with communications technology and/or positioning & timing technology for U.S. Government platforms and solutions, including but not limited to soldier systems, vehicles, aircraft, unmanned solutions, sensors, etc.
  • Experience with delivering software products in an agile environment
  • Experience with the development, manufacturing, and integration of electronics-based solutions
  • Experience with IT (Information Technology) environments, cloud architecture, and best practices
  • Experience with Windows and Microsoft Endpoint Manager
  • Experience with Android and mobile device technology
  • Experience in creation of functional specifications, project schedules, and building plans to deliver
  • Comfortable dealing with the ambiguity of new products, scenarios, and incubation work

 

We’ll also need you to:

  • Be able to travel up to 30%
  • Be a U.S. Citizen

 

Work Environment:

This position primarily works in the company office or in a home office. The position is largely sedentary with the majority of the position sitting in a chair and working with a computer. The role uses basic office equipment including a phone, video, computer, keyboard, mouse, and printer.
