Position Summary, Job Requirements & Responsibilities

What We’re Looking For:

Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer, the Vice President, Finance will lead an existing team of approximately six people located in McLean, Virginia, and Tempe, Arizona, and will be responsible for the company’s short term annual planning and longer-term strategic planning. The role will also include M&A, treasury and relationship management with banks and credit rating agencies. This role will interface closely with the CEO, CFO, Board and executive management team to ensure attainment of financial objectives.

 

What You’ll Do:

  • Foster, develop and grow a team of high-performing finance professionals to support the company’s financial objectives.
  • Lead the annual budgeting process, including the forecasting of current year performance.
  • Lead the strategic planning process by line of business and ensure linkage between strategic goals and investment decision making.
  • Partner with the business to build the tools, processes and systems necessary to drive continuous improvement in our forecasting and planning processes.
  • Participate and lead discussions, review, and due diligence related to M&A transactions that support company’s overall strategic direction.
  • Manage and drive the analysis and interpretation of monthly and quarterly operating results, preparation of reports, and analysis of financial effects of various contemplated actions.
  • Manage Balance Sheet strategy including best options for debt and equity linked instruments to ensure optimum capital structure; includes appropriate hedging risk strategy and managing credit relationships with banks and rating agencies.
  • Continue development of capital allocation strategy to optimize shareholder returns and align with strategic objectives.
  • Partner with executive management team to craft solutions that achieve and meet organization’s financial goals—build strong positive working relationships with all levels of the executive management team to drive effective decision-making.
  • Develop annual and long-term incentive plans that align with the company’s overall strategic objectives.
  • Develop policies, procedures, and communication protocol to ensure the overall accuracy and consistency of the monthly financial analysis processes.

Experience & Education Requirements / EEO

What You’ll Need to Succeed:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, or a related field
  • 15+ years of relevant experience in the financial industry
  • Previous management experience
  • A strong motivator and source of direction for your team, exemplifying commitment to the company’s financial goals
  • Excellent leadership qualities and the ability to hold yourself and others accountable for their work
  • A strategic mindset and the ability to facilitate collaboration across multiple departments
  • The skills needed to tackle complex financial challenges head-on
  • Confidence to drive discussions, make decisions, and respond to difficult financial situations
  • Proactive in seeking opportunities for growth to improve financial processes

Things That Would be Great if You Brought to the Table:

  • Advanced degree in Finance or related field
  • CPA or CFA certification
  • Expertise in financial modeling and analysis tools
  • Knowledge of industry-specific financial regulations and standards

We’ll also need you to:

  • Be on call as necessary
  • Be able to travel up to 15%
  • Demonstrate proficiency in financial software and tools
  • US citizenship (due to ITAR restrictions)

Work Environment:

This position primarily works in the company office or in a home office. The position is largely sedentary with the majority of the position sitting in a chair and working with a computer. The role uses basic office equipment including a phone, video, computer, keyboard, mouse, and printer.
