Position Summary, Job Requirements & Responsibilities

The Iridium Internship Program is an opportunity for students to be a part of the Iridium teams shaping the future of satellite communications. As an Intern, you’ll begin making an impact on real projects from day one! Come prepared to grow, develop, and learn alongside a team and the leaders of our company. The Iridium Internship program is a 12-week program that runs from May 27, 2025 to August 15, 2025. During the program, interns will have the opportunity to provide valuable support to an Iridium department on a project or important work assignment. Interns will also be provided an opportunity to engage with senior leadership and fellow interns via regular engagement activities. Interns will participate in an end of internship presentation, where we ask them to reflect on their summer internships and present a summary of what they have learned and accomplished.

 

What We’re Looking For:

Iridium seeks a stand-out Systems Engineer Intern with a desire to learn about the Systems Engineering (SE) process. This will include gaining knowledge of the use of SE tools such as JIRA based applications and participation in the different working group meetings where system requirements are generated, assessed & flowed down to different segments. The Intern will also learn how to conduct trade studies by participating in analyses which will determine the proper course of action during the design phase of the project and working on various projects which will allow the intern to gain exposure to different satellite services and projects.

 

What You’ll Do:

  • Work with different project engineers on requirements management, including learning the tools and processes, and entering, modifying, organizing, and exporting reports
  • Assist in writing requirements and specifications
  • Support engineering analysis for different aspects of the assigned projects
  • Support systems engineering technical interchange meetings
  • Assist in chart preparation for project reviews and other meetings

Experience & Education Requirements / EEO

Things You Must Bring to the Table:

  • Must be a minimum of 18 years of age
  • Must be currently enrolled in a bachelor's or graduate degree program at an accredited academic institution
    • Systems, Electrical, Software, Aerospace, Computer Science, Mechanical, or related fields preferred
  • US Citizenship is required
  • Must be able to work in person
