Position Summary, Job Requirements & Responsibilities

The Iridium Internship Program is an opportunity for students to be a part of the Iridium teams shaping the future of satellite communications. As an Intern, you’ll begin making an impact on real projects from day one! Come prepared to grow, develop, and learn alongside a team and the leaders of our company. The Iridium Internship program is a 12-week program that runs from May 27, 2025 to August 15, 2025. During the program, interns will have the opportunity to provide valuable support to an Iridium department on a project or important work assignment. Interns will also be provided an opportunity to engage with senior leadership and fellow interns via regular engagement activities. Interns will participate in an end of internship presentation, where we ask them to reflect on their summer internships and present a summary of what they have learned and accomplished.

 

What We’re Looking For:

The Iridium Automation Software team is seeking a bright intern! As a member of the team you will get the opportunity to design and implement a software/automation project with mentoring from the team. You will also learn and use industry-standard tools such as Amazon Web Services, Elasticsearch/Logstash/Kibana, Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery, and many others. Most importantly, you will take on real, meaningful work as a respected member of a high-performing engineering team

 

What You’ll Do:

  • Participate in the agile development cycle: attend daily scrums, planning, reviews and retrospectives
  • Work in a team environment to tackle a variety of hands-on tasks including software design/coding and interfacing with servers/hardware
  • Attend team code reviews of pull requests for different repositories from both a presenter and reviewer point of view
  • Help create automation frameworks for services, Iridium devices, and more

Skills You’ll Obtain:

  • Real-world experience in chosen field of interest and related topics through multiple hands-on projects
  • Critical thinking and analytical skills
  • Confidence to present and review code
  • Experience with Linux
  • Learn new industry and software practices from a team of experienced software engineers

Experience & Education Requirements / EEO

Things You Must Bring to the Table:

  • Must be a minimum of 18 years of age
  • Must be currently enrolled in a bachelors or graduate degree program at an accredited academic institution
  • Preferred Majors: Computer Systems Engineering and Computer Science
  • US Citizenship is required
  • Must be eligible to work in person
