Position Summary, Job Requirements & Responsibilities

The Iridium Internship Program is an opportunity for students to be a part of the Iridium teams shaping the future of satellite communications. As an Intern, you’ll begin making an impact on real projects from day one! Come prepared to grow, develop, and learn alongside a team and the leaders of our company. The Iridium Internship program is a 12-week program that runs from May 27, 2025 to August 15, 2025. During the program, interns will have the opportunity to provide valuable support to an Iridium department on a project or important work assignment. Interns will also be provided an opportunity to engage with senior leadership and fellow interns via regular engagement activities. Interns will participate in an end of internship presentation, where we ask them to reflect on their summer internships and present a summary of what they have learned and accomplished.

 

What You’ll Do:

 

Work assignments will be based on the degree field of the intern, areas of interest for the intern, and areas of need for the SNOC team. The specifics will vary while the interns rotate through the two teams, and may include:

  • Develop or update software tools for subsystem engineers and the operations floor
  • Update or create operational work products such as scripts, procedures, and checklists
  • Perform engineering investigations and analysis of various satellite subsystems
  • Perform simulations and present results

  • Real-world experience in chosen field of interest and related topics through multiple hands-on projects

  • Technical writing and presentation skills
  • A working knowledge of Satellite Subsystems and Operations
  • Communication skills to interact with subject matter experts for work products
  • Software development using any of Perl, Python, MATLAB, Java script and JAVA
  • Application of engineering design, principals, and theory to satellite operations, including:
    • Attitude Determination and Control
    • Electrical Power
    • Thermal Management
    • Propulsion
    • Computers and Electronics
    • RF Communications - antennas, transceivers, modulation and encoding

Experience & Education Requirements / EEO

Things You Must Bring to the Table:

  • Must be a minimum of 18 years of age
  • Must be currently enrolled in an Engineering bachelors or graduate degree program at an accredited academic institution.
  • Must be a US Citizen
  • Must be eligible to work in person
