Iridium has developed the largest satellite IoT business in the industry and it remains a significant growth engine for Iridium. We pride ourselves in providing and integrating IoT technology with world-leading companies such as Garmin and Caterpillar and 100’s of smaller, exceptionally interesting partners.

 

Iridium is seeking a Senior Product Manager to join the IoT Product Management team. As a Product Manager at Iridium, you will support existing and future IoT product and service technologies. You will be the front face of the customers’ needs and work cross-functionally with all aspects of the organization to ensure product success. Best of all, you will have responsibility and your efforts will directly impact the revenue and profitability of Iridium. The successful candidate will manage Iridium and Partner resources closely, deal with complex issues and technology challenges, and be part of a team to manage existing IoT products and to successfully commercialize new IoT products and services, generating revenue for the partner and Iridium.

 

What You’ll Do:

  • • Regularly interface with Iridium’s IoT line of business leaders to:
    • Define new IoT products, services, and applications based on customer needs and competitive offerings which will lead to success in the market
    • Develop detailed and fact-based business cases, market demand descriptions, product definitions, features, and functionality for executive presentations and roadmap decision-making
  • Develop marketing requirements and product specifications for IoT products and their corresponding services, as well as network, gateway, or billing/provisioning systems
  • Partner with the engineering teams to translate marketing requirements into technical implementation
  • Develop and maintain product plans for hardware and services, including competitive analysis, sales strategy, market share attainment, partner engagement, and pricing/rate plans. You may not always be the owner of a final decision, but you must drive the decisions forward to meet the required product commercialization
  • Develop and manage the project plan with Program Managers and lead the product through development, beta trials, and commercialization
  • Create technical, user, and marketing documentation for internal and external use for related data products and services
  • Provide support and expertise to sales teams via technical presentations, sales training material, white papers, lab demonstrations, and other customer engagements
  • Take the lead in assisting the sales and marketing product readiness teams to ensure that all organizations are prepared to launch products and services on the plan of record launch date

Experience & Education Requirements / EEO

What You’ll Need to Succeed:

  • BS/BA in Business, Science, Engineering, or related field
  • 10+ years’ total experience, with 5 years in Product Management support role
  • 3-5 years’ experience in an engineering development role, specifically working with hardware, firmware, or radio frequency
  • Capable of being a strong motivator and source of direction for your project team
  • Have a people-oriented, “do the right thing” focus and be able to build meaningful relationships with peers and senior leadership across the company
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey products, deliverables, analyses, and/or issues clearly and confidently, and recognize and adapt to different communication techniques
  • Can easily build meaningful relationships with others, including senior leadership outside of your own department, and is comfortable providing constructive feedback to your team members and management
  • Be able to analyze a situation or problem, generate effective solutions, and see those solutions through to completion
  • Must possess the creativity and resourcefulness needed to make reliable decisions and determine methods on new assignments
  • Can thrive in a dynamic environment by handling multiple tasks and managing shifting priorities
  • Exceptional MS Office skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and the ability to easily and quickly conduct extensive Internet research

Things That Would be Great if You Brought to the Table:

  • Experience in the cellular communications industry, wireless or satellite products and services
  • Experience with requirements development, interactions with operations organizations, customer support and training
  • Master’s Degree is a plus but not required
  • Proficiency in any foreign language

 We’ll also need you to:

  • Be able to work in the office 3 days a week to foster collaboration with the team and stakeholders
  • Be able to travel up to 25%
  • US Citizenship required

Work Environment:

This position primarily works in the company office or in a home office. The position is largely sedentary with the majority of the position sitting in a chair and working with a computer. The role uses basic office equipment including a phone, video, computer, keyboard, mouse, and printer.
