Position Summary, Job Requirements & Responsibilities

The Iridium Internship Program is an opportunity for students to be a part of the Iridium teams shaping the future of satellite communications. As an Intern, you’ll begin making an impact on real projects from day one! Come prepared to grow, develop, and learn alongside a team and the leaders of our company. The Iridium Internship program is a 12-week program that runs from May 27, 2025 to August 15, 2025. During the program, interns will have the opportunity to provide valuable support to an Iridium department on a project or important work assignment. Interns will also be provided an opportunity to engage with senior leadership and fellow interns via regular engagement activities. Interns will participate in an end of internship presentation, where we ask them to reflect on their summer internships and present a summary of what they have learned and accomplished.

 

What We’re Looking For:

The Billing Operations team is seeking a bright intern to join their team. The team supports and maintains several applications used for service provisioning, usage mediation, rating and billing of satellite communication services. As a member of the team, you will have the opportunity to enhance the automation of processes used in migrating subscribers between accounts for different types of services. In addition to getting familiar with the Telecommunications Business & Operations Support Systems (B/OSS) stack, you will also use and strengthen skills that are in high demand in various widely used technologies.

 

What You’ll Do:

  • Analyze existing customer migration processes
  • Design enhancements to the subscriber account migration processes
  • Enhance automation of customer account migration processes using automation tools
  • Automate pre/post-migration validation procedures

Skills You’ll Obtain:

  • Gain familiarity with several applications used in Telecommunications Business & Operations Support Systems (B/OSS)
  • Real-work experience with the Satellite Telecommunications Billing & Provisioning
  • Opportunity to work with automation tools to improve the management of customer accounts
  • Critical thinking and analytical skills

What You’ll Need to Succeed:

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Attention to detail and accuracy

What You’ll Need to Succeed:

  • Linux operating system command line, RHEL preferred
  • Knowledge of automated API testing platforms such as ReadyAPI.
  • Programming knowledge using Linux Shell scripting, Perl, JavaScript
  • Knowledge of Databases such as Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, mySQL preferred.

  • Must be a minimum of 18 years of age
  • Must be currently enrolled in a bachelor's or graduate degree program at an accredited academic institution
    • Accounting or Finance preferred 
  • US Citizenship is required
  • Must be able to work in person
