Position Summary, Job Requirements & Responsibilities

What We’re Looking For:

Iridium is seeking a Market Development Manager to join our Product Management Team. As a Market Development Manager, you’ll be responsible for the development of new markets/customer segments, including industry research, relationship building, market development, event management, channel strategy definition, sales and marketing tool creation, and demand creation working with marketing/channel/partner resources. You will lead initial business capture efforts for large pursuits which may involve multiple partner companies, teaming agreements, or proposal activities, as well as implement business unit strategies and continuous improvements to business capture processes working with marketing/channel/partner teams.  You’ll be successful in this role if you have a high degree of market research and technical understanding of IT/communication networks to identify new market opportunities and use cases for Iridium’s terrestrial products and services and a strong interpersonal skills and project management skills to work with potential customers, distributors, sales, and marketing stakeholders to drive new opportunities and demand for Iridium. 

 

What You’ll Do:

  • Be responsible for the roll-out of market development strategies to marketing/channel/partner teams including training, webinars, and in-person customer events to develop and grow targeted markets through campaign planning
  • Improve profitability and customer satisfaction on new and recurring sales by creating alignment of sales, objectives, and operations’ capability
  • Manage ongoing revenue of Terrestrial Business Unit equipment sales including contracts, deal management/approval, partner forecasts, internal demand planning/production guidance, and quarterly sales management to achieve budgeted sales
  • Provide marketing analysis as appropriate to help guide continued refinement of strategy, product, and technology roadmaps
  • Measure activities and revenue impact through pipeline management and reporting to business unit for coordination and awareness within internal teams
  • Communicate to the business unit on pursuits, including performing accurate sales forecast roll-ups
  • Externally promote a targeted understanding of Iridium capabilities throughout various markets
  • Provide support and strategic planning assistance for new product, pricing, promotion, and marketing-related programs for business unit as needed

  • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to clearly present information and work collaboratively with co-workers, vendors, and partners
  • The ability to easily build relationships and interact effectively with employees in various functions and at all levels of the organization
  • The ability to understand a situation or problem and think critically to make decisions and come up with out-of-the-box solutions
  • A high level of accuracy and innovation and strong analytical skills
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to prioritize your own tasks and potentially the tasks of others and meet deadlines under tight time constraints
  • Proactive in providing feedback and sharing your knowledge with others

Things You Must Bring to the Table:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 8+ years of experience in Product Management/Product Marketing at a telecommunications product and service-oriented company
  • Experience managing projects in a cross-functional organization
  • Understanding of customer segmentation concepts
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Project, PowerPoint, Word, etc.)

Things That Would be Great if You Brought to the Table:

  • Experience in the Satellite Communications industry

Work Environment:

 

This position primarily works in the company office or in a home office. The position is largely sedentary with the majority of the position sitting in a chair and working with a computer. The role uses basic office equipment including a phone, video, computer, keyboard, mouse and printer. For meetings in-person, this position will need to be able stand, walk within the office and climb stairs on occasion.
