What We’re Looking For:  

If you have 5+ years of experience in software development, then you will be excited about the Software Engineer opening with Iridium on our B/OSS Billing Development team. As a Software Engineer, you’ll independently deliver high-quality work and drive projects and deliverables to completion, including working autonomously to design and develop Java based middleware and the backend C, C++ applications within the B/OSS development team. In this role, you will also provide technical support, as required, to supplement the operations and other support teams. You will succeed in this role if you are analytical and have strong development skills with the ability to translate high level design in to details design and coding.

What You’ll Do:

• Participate in building detailed designs from the high-level design, develop, and maintain C, C++ and Java-based applications
• Play a role in Agile Scrum team software development cycle, including design discussions
• Work closely with product owner, software Engineers, quality assurance and operations support teams
• Conduct review of peer’s code against the team agreed code standards and ensure the highest quality of code is delivered
• Maintain the software configuration management repository, as well as generate the patches and builds for test, and production environments
• Support the integration, documentation, and launch of new product offerings throughout the release/development cycle

What You’ll Need to Succeed:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related technical discipline or a combination of technical experience in the area of software development
• 5+ years of related software development experience
• Knowledge of and experience with all aspects of the Software Development Life Cycle process
• Git SCM (Source Code Management)
• Software Build Management (Apache Maven)
• Project Tracking (Jira)
• Process Automation (Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD)
• Knowledge of Full-Stack Web Application Development
• Front-end (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, jQuery)
• Back-end (PHP, Java)
• Database (Oracle, MySQL)
• API (RESTful Web Services)
• Possess an analytical mindset, with the ability to understand a situation or problem and think critically to make decisions or come up with solutions
• Be comfortable managing upward, including being a proactive communicator and asking for help when needed
• Have confidence and be able to establish valuable relationships with others
• Must be able to prioritize key tasks and have a strong sense of ownership over your work
• Be active in seeking out ways to continuously improve yourself and gain new knowledge
• Be highly motivated and capable of learning new technologies as you will be working in a dynamic and evolving operational environment which at times requires rapid response from the support and development functions

Things That Would be Great if You Brought to the Table:

• Knowledge or familiarity of Spring Boot, Spring, ActiveMQ, JBoss Business Rules (Drools), Redis, Docker, Agile Software Development, Atlassian Tool Suite, Zend, Laminas, React, CSS Bootstrap
• Experience developing software tools and applications for a real-time operations environment.
• Other programming languages (C, C++, Perl, Python, Shell Scripting)

We’ll also need you to:

• Provide production support afer hours for any critical issues that cannot wait till next working day
• 10% travel may be required
