Position Summary, Job Requirements & Responsibilities

The Iridium Internship Program is an opportunity for students to be a part of the Iridium teams shaping the future of satellite communications. As an Intern, you’ll begin making an impact on real projects from day one! Come prepared to grow, develop and learn alongside the leaders of our company. The Iridium Internship program is a 12-week program that runs from May 24, 2021 to August 13, 2021. During the program, interns will have the opportunity to support an Iridium department on a project or important work assignment. Interns will also be provided an opportunity to engage with senior leadership and fellow interns via regular engagement activities. Interns will participate in an end of internship presentation, where we ask them to reflect on their summer internships and present a summary of what they have learned and accomplished.

 

As a Human Resources Intern (Employee Services), you will directly assist the Human Resources team with a wide range of projects related to employee policies, recognition, compensation, on-boarding/orientation, process automation, and special projects. You will gain a better understanding of the role that Human Resources can play in organization and be better equipped to later transition into a role in HR by developing a strong understanding of what HR is and what the team is responsible for. You will also have opportunities to network with other corporate functions in the office.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate current Human Resources processes and support implementation of improvements to streamline and gain efficiency
  • Draft standard job position description language, update position description templates, and format existing position descriptions
  • Research and analyze best practices for current or proposed programs and initiatives; assist with the development of new programs and/or policies to meet departmental objectives
  • Assist in maintenance of HR internal shared drive
  • Prepare and edit presentations and documentation for HR initiatives, events, or deliverables
  • Execute miscellaneous projects that involve preparation and analysis of system data

 

Professional Skills to be Acquired:

  • Real-world experience in chosen field of interest and related topics through multiple hands-on projects
  • Critical thinking and analytical skills
  • Project management
  • Exposure to the day to day responsibilities of an HR department
  • Hands on experience with various HR tools including iCims, ADP, CultureAmp, etc.
  • Ability to tailor your communication style to a variety of audiences

Education/Experience:

  • Must be a minimum of 18 years of age
  • Must be currently enrolled in a bachelors or graduate degree program at an accredited academic institution 
  • Must be eligible to work in the U.S.
