    Position Summary, Job Requirements & Responsibilities

    The Global Supply Manager supports our development teams and contract manufacturing partners in the sourcing of Direct Supply Chain components and parts and will be responsible for building and maintaining relationships with key personnel at our production facilities and suppliers. The position is also responsible for supporting the development, implementation and management of strategies to provide Iridium with optimal supply assurance, pricing, flexibility, quality and delivery performance. The Global Supply Manager will also monitor and maintain inventory of products according to demand requirements.

     

    In this role, the Global Supply Manager will build and leverage strong working relationships with our engineering teams and key suppliers to assure cost, quality, and delivery targets are met. This role will work toward creating and maintaining good supplier relationships and have total cost of ownership to achieve maximum advantage for Iridium and our customers.

     

    Duties and Responsibilities:

     

    Supplier Management

    • Responsible for cultivating and maintaining a strong Supply Chain relationship between Iridium and key suppliers.
    • Coordinates and supports communication flow between Sales & Operations Planning, Production, Engineering, Quality, and Materials organizations.
    • Works with contract manufacturing partners and suppliers in cost reduction, lead time, and performance issues.
    • Leads the supplier selection process with engineering teams.
    • Works with the Quality department and supports material returns to the supplier through the Non-Conformance process.
    • Owns RFQs and supplier quotes, ensuring all commercial terms are agreed and documented.

    Materials Management

    • Proactively plans and implements actions to assure on-time delivery; manages lead-times to internal and external customer expectations.
    • Responsible for Work in Process (WIP) inventory maintenance at supplier site and accuracy of all focus store items within assigned production areas; coordinates the disposition of nonconforming parts and products during the production process and the Returned Material Authorization (RMA) process.
    • Supports end of life (EOL) material management by determining last time buy requirements and working with engineering on identifying and qualifying replacements.

    Configuration Management Support

    • Receives and reviews design or internal documentation as part of the Engineering Change Order (ECO) review and approval process.
    • Reads and interprets engineering drawings and specifications to the extent necessary to support engineering change processes.

    NPI (New Product Introduction)

    • Responsible for Supply Chain deliverables related to Value Added Manufacturer (VAM) NPIs
    • Represents Supply Chain in all internal and supplier NPI meetings
    • Manages Manufacturing NPI checklist and provides status to schedule.

    Experience & Education Requirements / EEO

    • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Operations Management, or Engineering, or equivalent professional experience
    • 7 years' experience in Operations Planning and Management
    • Experience with board and box level contract manufacturing
    • Possess and apply a broad knowledge of Supply Management principles, practices, and procedures
    • APICS or related certification a plus
    • Ability to travel on occasion is required
