    Position Summary, Job Requirements & Responsibilities

    Position Summary:

     

    The Space Vehicle Software Engineering team is seeking a Software Engineer intern for summer 2020. As a Software Developer intern, you will learn what it is like to work as a member of an Agile scrum development team developing C++ or Java software. You will also learn how to use the Atlassian tool suite (Jira/Bitbucket/Crucible/Fisheye) which is the most widely used project management tool suite for software development and how to develop software in a team environment with configuration management using Git.

     

    Duties & Responsibilities:

     

    The intern will work as a member of Agile scrum team developing simulation software for the VIPER-II satellite software test environment or developing software tools to customize the Atlassian tool suite (JIRA/Bitbucket/Crucible/Fisheye) to automatically generate metrics and deliver documents.

    • Each day will consist of:
      • Attending the daily scrum meeting to discuss progress/plans/impediments
      • Review status of the current sprint – using Jira
      • Develop and unit test code
      • Setup code reviews
      • Perform code reviews of team members code
      • Coordinate with team members as needed to complete stories
      • Support integration and story testing as needed
      • Perform other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned from time to time by management
    • Weekly
      • Support backlog grooming meetings
      • Support sprint kickoff meetings (biweekly)
      • Support sprint review/demonstration (biweekly)

    Experience & Education Requirements / EEO

    • Must be a minimum of 18 years of age
    • Must currently be enrolled in an accredited college or university working on a Computer Science degree
    • Must have experience with C++ or Java and have completed a C++ or Java course
    • Basic knowledge of software engineering
    • Basic knowledge of Universal Modeling Language (for software design)
    • Basic knowledge of embedded/real-time software
    • On-the-job work experience related to the current field of study
    • Agile methodology for software development by working as a member of a scrum team
    • Time management of assigned development tasks
    • Software configuration management
    • Collaboration; experience in a team environment
    • Multi-tasking and prioritization
