    Position Summary, Job Requirements & Responsibilities

    Position Summary:

    The IT team is seeking a Data Analyst intern for the summer of 2020. As a Data Analyst Intern, you will have the opportunity to assist the IT department in collecting and analyzing ticketing data and data for the Iridium internal data storage, to help develop improved processes and proceduress, resulting in better service to IT customers. 

     

    Duties & Responsibilities:

    • Take data from different IT ticketing systems, and analyze it for trends.

    • Assist with the development of processes and procedures around the trends found in the analysis of the ticketing data.

    • Gather and analyze data from on-premise storage and help develop process and procedures for archiving, purging, and migrating data to on-line resources.

    • Understanding of best practices in an IT environment

    Experience & Education Requirements / EEO

    • Must be a minimum of 18 years of age
    • Must currently be enrolled in an accredited college or university preferably working on a graduate degree in computer science, data analytics, data science, statistics or mathematics.
    • Data analysis (data mining, enterprise and applied analytics, quality management, data modeling), preferably within a STEM context
    • Excellent problem-solving skills
    • Strong communication skills and business acumen. Able to summarize technical details into a non-technical summary
    • Familiarity with SQL or other databases
    • Knowledge of Python or R as well as Power BI
    • Synthesizes complex or diverse information from collected and researched data
    • Prioritizes and plans work activities
    • Sets goals and objectives. Uses time efficiently
    • Proficiency with MS Office Suite, especially Excel and PowerPoint
    • Interest in aerospace and/or telecommunications
