    Position Summary, Job Requirements & Responsibilities



    This position is responsible for the administration and maintenance of the Iridium Network environments running at the SNOC and TSC facilities working in cooperation with the IT Network and Systems  administrators to provide highly available and reliable systems to support the Iridium Mission network.


    Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Administration of network infrastructure systems to support the Local Area Networks and Wide Area Networks across all Mission Networks
    • Administration of Cisco ASA VPN’s
    • Administration of customer co-located equipment, VPNs and similar systems
    • Work service requests and help desk tickets on a daily basis
    • Participate in design meetings, reviews, implementation projects and coordinate with telecommunication vendors
    • Maintain all network monitoring systems for connectivity, performance, and configuration changes
    • Participate in a rotating coverage schedule to provide off-hours support
    • Maintain existing IT network elements; implement upgrades, replacements and new equipment as directed
    • Monitor the IT Network systems for proper operation, error conditions and unauthorized changes
    • Respond to alerts and take corrective action; provide root cause analysis and suggest improvements
    • Maintain appropriate logs, databases and history to perform trending analysis and take proactive steps to ensure the proper operation of systems
    • Maintain appropriate tools to assist in the execution of duties
    • Maintain appropriate and current documentation of network
    • Suggest improvements and seek additional training to maintain skills necessary to execute duties
    • Other duties may be assigned by management


    Job Requirements:

    • Demonstrated proficiencies with network administration and installation
    • Ability to multitask and excel in a fast paced 24/7 environment
    • Detail oriented with excellent technical, verbal and written communication skills
    • Strong problem solving skills
    • Ability to work well under pressure.
    • Ability to collaborate with internal and external technology partners to ensure end to end quality of all products, services and systems; customer service focus
    • Understanding of Iridium IT policies and procedures
    • 24/7 On-Call as per assigned schedule

    Experience & Education Requirements / EEO

    Experience/Education Requirements:


    • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science/MIS or equivalent work experience
    • Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) certification preferred.
    • 3+ years of experience with Cisco Routers, Switches, and Wireless with advanced knowledge of TCP/IP network administration and troubleshooting
    • 3+ years of experience with Enterprise Firewalls or similar security systems with advanced knowledge of network security applications, tools, and methodologies
    • 3+ years of experience working in both LINUX and UNIX environments; ability to troubleshoot network connectivity issues at both an application and Server OS level.
    • 3+ years of experience in a 24/7 Mission Critical environment preferred
