    Position Summary, Job Requirements & Responsibilities

    Position Overview:
    The Accounting Manager will be heavily involved in the month end financial close cycle, as well as revenue recognition and inventory cost accounting. This position will ensure accurate and timely preparation and analysis of consolidated financial statements and oversee general ledger activities including journal entries, reconciliations, and the analysis of financial results. This position has one direct report, but will also require a very hands-on approach with close attention to detail and ability to comprehend complex accounting. The essential duties and qualifications of this position are listed below.


    Specific responsibilities include:

    • Responsible for consolidated financial statements in a public company environment: Balance Sheet, Income Statement, Statement of Cash Flows and the Statement of Stockholders Equity.
    • Month-end close process: This position will be responsible for performing many monthly accounting tasks including journal entries, reconciliations, financial statement preparation and the completion of management reporting.
    • Technical accounting: Research and interpret US GAAP and work with various business units to determine and document the proper accounting treatment for various contracts and business transactions.
    • Analysis of financial results: Analyze financial results compared to trends and forecasted expectations. Review, investigate and correct any issues as needed. Participate in the completion of management reporting and the gathering of balance sheet and income statement variance explanations.  Review and confirm the work of others as it relates to variance explanations.
    • Forecasting: Responsible for the subscriber equipment sales and cost forecast, which is updated on a quarterly basis.
    • Accounting for Inventory: Responsible for the preparation and/or review of warranty analysis, overhead calculations, obsolete inventory analysis, inventory cost/margin analysis, etc.
    • Revenue Recognition: Review and monitor various contracts and agreements to determine appropriate revenue recognition. Maintain master file and account for any unique contracts and/or multiple-element arrangements.
    • Make recommendations regarding the accounting of reserves, assets and expenditures.
    • Monitor compliance with US GAAP and SOX controls and the company’s policies and procedures. Participate in the establishment of internal controls, policies and procedures.
    • Review the organizations accounting operations and submit recommendations for improving the organization’s accounting operations or accounting systems.
    • Assist with annual financial statement audit and interact with external auditors.
    • Participate in special accounting projects as necessary.

    Experience & Education Requirements / EEO

    • BS Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; MBA, MS in Accounting, and/or CPA certification preferred.
    • 7-10 years of progressive accounting experience; minimum of 3 years public accounting experience; combination of public accounting and industry experience preferred.
    • In depth knowledge and experience in Accounting / Finance in a public company environment.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills to interact with management. Also focus on listening and understanding the accounting impact of transactions; ability to understand and convey complicated topics to others.
    • Ability to effectively prioritize in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment.
    • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel required. Experience in Microsoft Dynamics GP, Prophix, and/or Blackline is preferred.
    • Periodic travel (less than 10%) is required.
    • Must be driven, take initiative, work with minimal oversight, meet deadlines without reminders, and be a problem solver with the ability to analyze situations and recommend practical solutions.
    • Experience with financial statement consolidations, international entities, and multi-currency is required.
    • This position requires a hands on approach to managing a tight month end close process. Experience managing staff and managing the general ledger closing is integral to this position.
