    Position Summary, Job Requirements & Responsibilities

    This position will act as the architect for MicroStrategy reporting solutions as well as the Oracle data models and Informatica ETL processes executed to build and maintain the Iridium data warehouse. The candidate will be primarily responsible for administration, design and development of reports, dashboards, and cubes, as well as architectural guidance and direction for the products. The candidate will also provide technical support as required to supplement the operations and Tier2 support teams.


    Duties and Responsibilites:

    • Participate as a lead in our agile development team
    • Responsible for the architecture, administration, design, development, implementation and support of mission-critical enterprise Business Intelligence (BI) reports that utilize the underlying Data Warehouse.
    • Design and development of reporting structures (cubes, dashboards, metrics, filters, attributes), supporting new services, billing enhancements, and modifications
    • Analyze business data requirements to produce relevant ETL and data architecture deliverables (source analysis, source to target maps, ETL flows)
    • Participate throughout the entire project life cycle to ensure conformance to design, overall data warehouse architectural compliance and infrastructure coordination and preparation
    • Work with ETL and Data Architects to ensure the various architectures align with the BI/DW strategy and conform to the solution requirements
    • Manage all aspects of infrastructure requirements, planning and implementation
    • Coordinate and participate in system and performance testing
    • Act as ETL or Data Architect or ETL Developer when required
    • General consulting skills, including: team facilitation, business case development, etc
    • Ensure reporting system is secure and reliable to deliver consistent and timely results
    • Support the successful execution of recurring scheduled reports
    • Implement and manage version control within the reporting subsystems
    • Produce new builds and deployments upon completion of development tasks
    • Support QA efforts, resolve issues and defects in a timely manner
    • Mentor junior team members to ensure they keep current with technological developments within the industry
    • Work closely with the operations support team supporting the configuration, back office and customer service processes
    • Assist in the troubleshooting and assist in resolving complex system issues that may have a negative impact on revenue or customer perceptions
    • Communicate expectations clearly to resources to ensure that deliverables and deadlines are properly me
    • Participates in meetings to recommend process improvements as development or customer needs dictate to enhance or maintain efficiencies for internal customers and reduce risk of revenue loss
    • Assists with the integration, documentation and launch of new product offering
    • Participates in requirements gathering sessions to ensure the proper set up and use of back office systems
    • Assist as necessary with user acceptance testing of the reporting systems as development is completed, before production roll out
    • Other activities as deemed necessary

    Job Requirements:

    • Thorough understanding of System Development Life Cycle
    • Must demonstrate proficiency in administrating, developing and maintaining the MicroStrategy components for the data warehouse implementation
    • Competency in development and tuning of SQL queries 
    • Excellent understanding of telecom OSS\BSS, billing and revenue assurance
    • Ability to Interact with various departments and management
    • Strong architectural skills including strong understanding of data modeling, creation of all the basic MicroStrategy objects (attributes, metrics, filters, transformations, consolidations, groupings, etc.), creation and maintenance of hierarchies. Also needs to be able to troubleshoot architectural issues when reports don’t give the correct results
    • Ability to prioritize multiple projects, multi task and review workloads to ensure the best use of resources
    • Must possess excellent organizational skills and thrive in a fast pace environment 

    Experience & Education Requirements / EEO

    • 4 year degree in Business or Computer Science
    • 5+ years of experience as a Data Architect/Data Modeler versed in normalization techniques that address Data Warehouse and Data Mart design (i.e. 3rd normal form, Star Schema)
    • 8+ years of experience with relational databases (Oracle, SQL Server, DB2, Teradata, etc)
    • 5+ years working on BI/DW projects
    • 5+ years of experience in administration of MicroStrategy solutions. 
    • Substantial (logical, physical, conceptual) design experience within data warehousing environments governed by applying appropriate methodologies
    • Deep experience on Data Warehouse projects defining technical, information, ETL and data architectures.
    • Ability to develop using an ETL tool (Informatica - preferred, Ab Initio or Data Stage) and/or BI tools (MicroStrategy – preferred, Cognos, Business Objects)
    • Technical knowledge and experience in Telecommunications, BSS/OSS systems, preferably Oracle BRM
    • Minimum 10 years of Software Development experience in the telecommunications industry
