    Position Summary, Job Requirements & Responsibilities

    The Member of the Technical Staff, under general direction from the Director, Technical Operations, will assist our infrastructure team with our commercial network at all Iridium locations. Activities include designing and implementing functional network infrastructure and equipment, IP testing and validation, troubleshooting, and performing emergency return to service operations, new service element activation, and ensuring optimum network performance.

     

    Duties and Responsibilities:

     

    • Create Low Level and High Level design of LAN/WAN networks utilizing industry best practices and Cisco hardware to include: Cisco enterprise level L3 switching and Nexus 7K/5K/2K platforms
    • Perform installation, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of managed hardware, software, and peripheral devices
    • Repair and maintain data center infrastructure equipment including IP switching, routing, and firewalls
    • Conduct research on network products, services, protocols, and standards to remain abreast of developments in the networking industry
    • Manage, monitor, and maintain network infrastructure that supports MPLS with various routing protocols
    • Administer and maintain multiple VLANs across the enterprise
    • Maintain all related audit logs and adhere to Configuration Management rules required to meet compliance
    • Develop, test, document, and execute methods to move complex systems from older routing environments to new
    • Provide real time troubleshooting and problem resolution as required
    • Provide 7x24 on call assistance as needed
    • Support remote sites 

    Job Requirements:

    • Experience in mid to large scale LAN/WAN environments
    • 12+ years of experience operating and supporting Cisco Layer 3 Managed switch stacks
    • 12+ years of experience operating and supporting Nexus Core 7K/5K/2K
    • 10+ years of experience operating and supporting Cisco Firewalls
    • Expert level proficiency in platforms such as SolarWinds, Route Explorer used for Enterprise Network Monitoring
    • Expert level knowledge IP communication and routing is required (OSPF, EIGRP, BGP)
    • 10+ years of experience with logical network design models (L2/L3, WAN, Network Optimization, Spanning tree, VFR, VTP, VLANs, physical cabling)
    • Excellent troubleshooting and problem management skills in a high-pressure environment
    • Clear and professional communication skills and is comfortable engaging with peers across the Technology organization
    • Excellent customer service orientation with proven analytical and problem-solving abilities
    • The ability to organize and manage many varying priorities
    • Due to ITAR, US Citizenship Required

    Experience & Education Requirements / EEO

    • Active CCNA Certificate holder (CCNP Preferred)
    • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical certifications or training, or 12 - 15 years of direct work experience
